HOW WILL I BENEFIT FROM THE SOUTH FRASER PERIMETER ROAD (SFPR) ON HIGHWAY 17?
South Fraser Perimeter Road (SFPR) offers goods movers and inter-municipal commuters an efficient highway transportation corridor that helps reduce traffic on municipal roads and restores them as community connectors. By directing truck traffic to a new route and limiting access on other corridors to local traffic, South Fraser Perimeter Road (SFPR) helps to improve safety on local streets and other commuting routes.
South Fraser Perimeter Road (SFPR) also provides an alternate route for emergency vehicles in the event of an incident, provides connections to municipal cycling networks, and improves access to designated industrial and commercial areas like Tilbury and Sunbury in Delta and Tannery Road in Surrey, which will help with Delta and Surrey’s growth plans.
DOES SOUTH FRASER PERIMETER ROAD (SFPR) AFFECT BURNS BOG?
In planning South Fraser Perimeter Road (SFPR), the Province of British Columbia took significant steps to not only avoid impacts to the protected Burns Bog Ecological Conservancy Area, but also to help address historical issues and create a physical buffer between the bog and industrial areas.
Fraser Transportation Group (FTG) shares the Province’s commitment to the Burns Bog Ecological Conservancy Area management plan. We have established a comprehensive monitoring program to ensure mitigation measures in the vicinity of Burns Bog are effective over the long term.
